app freezes when clicking the down arrow

Hi, I have win2k/sp4 and office 2k/sp3. A few pcs of
mine seems to freeze (not responding on the task manager)
for about 20 to 30 seconds after (for example) clicking
on File--Open and then clicking on the down arrow
button. It suddenly freezes the app when the down arrow
is pressed.

It seems to be only with office 2k, other apps like adobe
reader does not have this problem. I applied all the
patches and hotfixes but nothing seems to solve the
problem.

Please somebody HELP!!!
