Appearance of Custom Gallery Controls in Office 2007

Is it possible for a custom gallery control to be displayed expanded across a
group in the same way the MS galleries are?

I am only able to insert a gallery that appears when a main button is clicked.

No, sorry. Office 2007 doesn't support that.
