appending files with extensions?

When I includes/appends a file onto a OneNote page the filename is shown
without file extension (the same stupidity that is the default in
WinXP).
Can one change that to display the entire filename including the
extension?

No, it's not possible.

Here you go:

Odd enough - when I just wanted to double check and entered the above
FeedbackID I got an "invalid Feedback ID". Do these suggestions have to
be screened first?

Been there, done so.

But now - a few minutes later - feel very ashamed.
Obviously prior to replying to original your posting I did not check
things thoroughly enough :-( :-( and so my recommendation seems not only
a bit premature :-(

I think showing that showing the it's really necessary and not too
useful.
There's plenty of information the embedded file available easy enough.
OnMouseOver shows a balloon-tip with all of the details!
AFAICS the developers just made a compromise. With nowadays' looooong
file names showing the whole filename incl. the extension a lot of
screen real estate would be needed. So the decision to use an icon and
subscript of two lines IMHO was wise enough.

I did not comment your suggestion in Connect* so far in order not to
contradict.
What do you think on why the feature would be necessary in spite of the
info presented in the OnMouseOver event?

Yes - I know and have seen that there is lots of info shown in the
balloon popup (including the extension). But I still prefer to always
see a file's extension! it simply gives me a better, safer feeling and I
also can immediately anticipate what to expect when opening/double
clicking an item. Esp. when one has a couple of items with the same name
like foo.doc, foo.cpp, foo.make, foo.exe, etc. one also can immediately
pick the one that one is currently interested in without first having to
hover over each one.

Even with this explanation I do not see any need for changing ON's
behaviour.
If one really has that many files with the same name and different
extensions it's easy enough to use "OnMouseOver" to check the files'
names.
IMHO it's just a problem of how one names one's files <gbg>.
Not too wise, IMHO, to have tons of files with the same name (foo.*).
