Appendix heading does not fit in one line in TOC!!

Hi,

I've created an AppendixHeading style which in the document looks nice. The
problem is that when I generate the TOC the heading is broken into 2 lines
like

APPENDIX A

MyAppendix..................................................................
....................................Page

It seems that somehow a left tab is set somewhere which makes it look like
this. If I move the tab a little further right things fit in one line.
Likewise if I just use APP A instead of APPENDIX A things look alright!

I've tried to look at the TOC 1 style to see where this tab is set, but I
simply can't find it!

It is not easy to modify the TOC styles in current versions of Word, which
are very coy about displaying all styles even when you have "All Styles"
selected. But you are the master! Press Shift while clicking on the arrow
beside the Styles dropdown, and the list will show you *all* the styles.

Hi Suzanne,

I may have expressed myself badly ;o) I failed to find the tab stop in the
TOC style - not the TOC style itself. So what I actually cannot figure out
is why the appendix heading fails to be on one line, as I cannot find the
tab stop in the TOC style.

If the style has a hanging indent, then by default a tab stop is set at the
indent position. Also, see
