Does anyone know how to use AppleScript to select an Excel worksheet
embedded in a Word document?

One possible answer is....

tell application "Microsoft Excel"
activate
--copy range (range "A1:J10" of sheet "Sheet1" of active workbook)
copy range range "A1:D7"

tell application "Microsoft Word"
activate
paste excel table text object of selection with linked to Excel and
RTF without word formatting

end tell
end tell
