application control lost

Hi
I lose control of MS Office applications about every 10
minutes: cursor disappears, keyboard inactive. Left click
of mouse or switching to another application theback cures
for about another 10 minutes

I've upgraded to XP SP2, downloaded latest keyboard
(Intellitype 5)and mouse drivers (Intellipoint 4.12) and
run a repair on Office - all to no effect

Any ideas most welcome
