Application crashes in Groove 2007

Tom

I am using the Groove 2007 client with no Groove or Sharepoint server. So far
as I understand the program, all data in Groove workspaces (e.g., Word files,
etc.) are contained within Groove files (i.e., they don't appear as .doc
files, for instance, anywhere on my hard drive). As I also understand it,
when working on these files, temp files are created in the Windows Temp
folder.

So, could someone tell me what to do when an application crashes while I am
using a Groove workspace "owned" file. Is there a way to recover the
automatically saved data (e.g., the Word autorecover files created
periodically within Word)?

Also, it seems that the Groove version of the file is only updated/saved
when I actually exit the program (e.g., Word). Is there a way to force a more
regular update, or force it to update manually while working on the file, or
does it automatically update when I save the file (e.g., File, Save in Word)?

Thanks!
Tom

I'm using Groove 3.1 and Office 2003 and use all my office files directly out
of Groove. When I get an app crash or lockup, I usually get the recover menu
when restarting the Office app. I say "usually"...it may happen every time,
but I don't have that many crashes. As far as a "forced" save, simply click
the save icon in the office app then click on the groove icon in your taskbar
- a window will pop up asking if you want to save the changes to Groove.
Answer yes and your changes will be saved back to the workspace and you will
automatically revert back to the application. I do this very often during
the day when making lots of changes to my files because i like the idea of
having them "backed up" on other people's PCs who share the same workspace.
Like I said, this is 3.1/Office 2003, but I'm pretty sure it would work the
same way for Groove 2007 and the most recent office package.

Don response is accurate. The reason Groove does not react to autosave
feature is that it would initiate a change delta to all members of the space
each time generating more traffic. If the word crashes it should leave behind
the temp file associated with the crash for autorecover. If that did not
happen then something must have happened to the temp file.
