Application Error Message

I am having a problem with an application error message and have tried
everything to no avail. The popup box states that "The exeception unknown
software exception (0xc000000d) occurred in the application at location
0x00420417". Would anybody out there please give me some info on this and
how to get rid of this extremely annoying popup. Thanks from Bill

This happens at startup...?

If so, it looks like some app that you uninstalled or upgraded, but it
left some tracks and is trying to start an application that is no
longer there. It may be an IM program such as AIM. Try cleaning your
registry (but Back It Up first!).

Use Advanced Windows Care or RegClean (both are free downloads).
Either of these will identify and clean out your registry garbage.

Also, check your startup folder for things you do not recognize or use
and consider deleting the shortcuts. Fewer processes running = better
response time. (Windows XP should load between 20-40 processes. XP
Media Center Edition loads 60-80.)

If this does not work, Google that error and you should be able to
find something in the Microsoft database that will tell you exactly
which registry keys to delete (not for the inexperienced!).
