I'm new to this group, so I apologize if this topic has been covered.
Recently, I have been receiving the following error when exiting Word:
WINWORD.EXE - Application error: The instruction at "0x...." referenced
memory at "0x....". The memory could not be "read".
Is there anything I can do to fix this?
All I can suggest is to "round up the usual suspects."
See if your file does the same thing on another machine.
If so, it is likely something whacky about your file rather
than about your machine.
If it appears to be the file, you can do things like:
Make a copy. In the copy, delete the front half of the
file. If the problem persists, delete the front half of
what is left. Otherwise get the other half and check
that. You should be able to see if it is something
you can delete.
Does a brand new empty Word file do the same thing?
If so, it might be something whacky about your templates.
If it appears to be your machine, consider the following.
Do any other apps misbehave. If not, probably it is
not your hardware.
Check that you've got the right video driver installed.
Also printer driver, and any other devices that may be
attached to your machine and interacting with Word.
Check for virus or other malware, trojans, etc. There
are some free anti-virus software packs, plus several
commercial ones. I use the Norton one.
Consider re-installing.
