Easiest answer is to first try saving the file from Excel
2003 as a 2000 format instead of it's default format.

My Excel 2003 does not show an Excel 2000 format, AFAIK it does not
exist.

Can you tell us what error you are seeing, and when it happens during the
loading process? Are you missing library references? VBA code that isn't
supported in 2000? Is the file password protected, or anything else?
