Application Hang, Fault Bucket 57586923 - Winword (11)

One of my users is running Windows XP Pro with Office 2003
Professional on a fairly powerful Dell Dimension. All
products are completely patched. The network is running
Symantec Corporate Edition 8.x antivirus software.

Several times a day, Word hangs. The Event Log posts 2
erros. Application Hang, hang module hungapp; and Fault
Bucket 57586923.

I've searched Google and Microsoft Knowledge base and
can't find any reference to this problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If another version of Norton Antivirus was/is installed on the user's
system, the Office Plugin that came with it may still be active, and
this plugin often causes newer versions of Word to crash.

Search for a file named OfficeAV.dll on the user's system (include
hidden and system files and directories). If one exists, note the
directory path where it is located. Close all open applications. From
Windows, click on Start | Run. In the Open dialog box, type the command
(including quotes):

Regsvr32 -U "C:\<path>\OfficeAV.dll"

Replace <path> with the directory path for the OfficeAV.dll file. Click
on OK. You should get the message: "DllUnregisterServer in
C:\<path>\OfficeAV.dll succeeded." Does that work?
