Applications won't launch - shared libraries missing?

I'm running a MacBook (they're all Intel, to the best of my knowledge) with
Office 2004. Neither Word, Excel nor Powerpoint will launch. I'm getting
this error:

"Microsoft Excel cannot load the Microsoft Office shared libraries.

The files may have been moved from the original locations...."

Then it goes on to say to either move them back or reinstall. Problem is,
I've already done that. I ran Remove Office and deleted everything except
for files I created (my Entourage mail, Word and Excel docs, etc.). I ran
Disk Utility to repair permissions. Then I did a fresh install. Same problem
still occurs.

Entourage runs fine. So does MS Messenger, though I seldom use it. I have
not moved any shared library files anywhere, nor have I deleted them. I have
used Office 2004 just fine for 2 years or more, so it's strange that this
problem is cropping up with my new Intel Mac. I thought MS was supposed to
have experience with Intel... ;-)

Any advice you have would be appreciated.

The shared libraries problem usually occurs when an update has gone wrong.
Download the Office 2004 11.3 Updater from the Mactopia website
<http://www.microsoft.com/mac> and run it. After Office has been properly
updated, you should no longer see this problem.

I have run this update using Auto Update (twice now, actually), and that has
said it updated correctly, but I'll try the downloaded version and let you
know how it goes.
