Apply a Template to an Existing .doc

Is it possible to apply a template to an existing doc? I have over 100 pp to
apply a template to and I'm hoping that I won't have to do it manually
because I REALLY don't want to have to copy a paste. My wrist is beginning to
cramp just thinking about it. Is this possible? If not, is it possible to
apply and save a default header/footer?

Create a new document based on the template and use Insert | File to insert
the existing document.
