Apply to Master/Selected Slides Issue

Has anyone come across this problem and found out how to fix it?

Using a multi master template we routinely make use of the Slide Design sub
menu to apply various design templates to specific slides within one document.

On one users PowerPoint we have an issue, where, for the last week, we have
only been able to access "Apply to All Slides" and "Show Large Previews" from
the sub menu.

On everyone else's machine all the options are available:

Apply to Master
Apply to All Slides
Apply to Selected Slides
------------------------------
Show Large Previews

At the moment we can't figure out how this menu suddenly changed (i.e. what
we did!!), and what we need to do to get all the options back.

We've figured out that this isn't template or document specific, but rather
a problem on that one machine.

Do you have backward compatibility mode set in the options dialog to disable
multiple masters? If you have that option ticked the 'apply to selected
slides' does not appear.
