Applying a custom list or site to previous project sites

I created a custom site template and applyed it as the default site
template for my PWA installation. When new sites are created, they are
created correctly with the new site template and everything looks
great.

However, I have about 100 or more sites that were previously created by
PWA and SharePoint that don't have the customization in them. How can
I apply the site template to those previously created sites without
losing the information stored in them?

The main thing customized for the site template was a list. Can I save
off the custom list and apply that to previously created sites any
easier than I could an entire site template?

I'm trying to avoid having to open up every site that already exists
and creating the custom list again.
