If you want a page border on the first page of your
document only, you can get there one of at least two ways.
First Way (easier):
Select File - Page Setup, Layout, Headers and Footers,
Different first page; click OK.
Second Way (can be used anywhere within a file):
Insert a continuous section break by clicking where you
want the section break to appear (below the text at the
bottom of the first page), then selecting Insert - Break -
Section break types - Continuous - OK. (Keep in mind
that if you use this method anywhere *but* the first
page, you must insert a section break both above and
below the target page.)
Whichever way you selected, click on the page where you
want the border to appear.
Select Format - Borders and Shading - Page Border.
Be careful right here. Select an art border or whatever
you want, and before you click OK, set the "Apply To"
setting to "This section" or "This page" or "This
section - first page only" (what appears depends on which
method you used above). In other words, make sure it does
not say Apply to: Whole document.
Click OK; that should do it.
