Applying French accents

I have a French student staying with me, when she tries to write in French
there is no accent above the letters, how can she get these accents ? I have
tried changing to a French keyboard but this is quite confusing because I am
using a UK English keyboard and the French keyboard layout is quite
different. Appreciate any help on this matter, Dan McLean.

Check the insert symbol dialog for the relevant shortcuts eg é is CTRL+ALT+e

On my machine the shortcut for é is Ctrl+', e. Ctrl+Alt+E is the shortcut
for a euro symbol. See

I wrote a nifty little macro (IVC Accents for the Microsoft Office
Suite) for the French and Spahish professors at the college that I work
for. It will work in just about all Microsoft products.

The best this about IVC Accents is that the typist doesn't have to take
their fingers out of the typing position and they don't have to
remember the alt+xxx combinations.

I think if you try IVC Accents you will be more than happy to pay the
price for it...because it is free!

This is not necessary in Word, which has built-in keyboard shortcuts for
accented letters (Ctrl+', e for é, for example). And Word also makes it easy
to assign a keyboard shortcut to any font character.

Of course it isn't necessary; however, it does make typing accent
easier and faster by not having to take your fingers out of the typin
position. You also don't have to remember all the alt or crt
combinations. You only need to remember "/", "<", ">", and ".". Yo
don't need -shortcuts- with IVC Accents!

Example: /u. would give you ü, /?/ would give you ¿

Go ahead...be brave, try it, and learn something new today. I'
confident that once you try it you will see the advantages of IV
Accents. I understand that you are advocating shortcuts, IVC Accent
just extends capabilities of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
Outlook, etc. without the clunky shortcuts

What -are- you talking about Suzanne? To my knowledge this thread i
the only thread, in this forum, where I have posted anything to do wit
IVC Accents. If you are talking about our discussion (same as this one
in a different forum that's a different matter all together. Am I no
allowed to post in multiple forums? I've seen your replies in both th
forums we have discussed this, and they are senseless. Why don't yo
just let it go? People from all over the USA have downloaded IV
Accents and all I have gotten is good reviews from those people. Le
them decide what is necessary for themselves. It is not your place t
decide for them.

I tried to put an end to this dicussion (with an apolog

just keep on going. What is your problem? You are very knowledgeable o
the subject of MS Office and I admire you for that, but you do not kno
it all (none of us do). Let it go Suzanne, you were in the wrong o
