Appointment defaut times

Does any else think it is crazy that the choice of view on
the calendar (15min, 30min, 60min) becomes automatically
the default appointment time? I want to see my daily
calendar at 30 minute intervals but have my default
appointment time to be 60 minutes, but it can't be done!
