appointments failing to save

When I try to enter appointments, irrespective of how I
get to the 'save and close' stage, Outlook fails to save
the appointment with the correct date, etc. Every
appointment simply saves under the current date and time.
I have been using Outlook for quite a while - this is a
new phenonemon.

How are you creating this appointment? Double clicking in the calendar
window?
