The PMI Practice Standard for Earned Value Management defines an apportioned
effort task as one where a direct supportive relationship to a discrete task
exists, where the value of the supportive task based upon the earned value of
the supported task. (This is distinguished from a level of effort task where
there is no tangible outcome, nor any direct supportive relationship to a
task that does.)
There are many such tasks in my projects and I would like to be able to
define this apportioned effort relationship in MS Project in such a manner
that the apportioned earned value would automatically be assessed based upon
the % work complete for the supported task. Does anyone know if this
capability exists in MS Project today? If not, it would be great if
Microsoft would add it.
