appt disappears when i delete acceptance email from inbox

Is there a way to delete the Acceptance email from my inbox without also
deleting the appointment in the calendar? Seems odd that I need to let them
all sit in my inbox.

Depends on how you have your acceptance setup.

If Outlook 2007 (always tell us your version - lots depends on it), look
under Tools->options->e-mail options->advanced e-mail options->Delete
meeting request from in-box when responding.
