Archive disapeared. Can be recovered?

After some intervention from IT, all my Archive folders and messages are gone.
He says there was a corrupt file and he had to enter a new profile.
Is there a way to recover the old folders and messages?

Search for pst-files on your system and use File-> Open-> Outlook Data File
to connect to it.

I've done that, nothing is there. There was a large amount of folders and
messages, many of them with attachments. I was hoping to recover at least
part of them like we used to recover deleted files with the old PC Tools or
Norton Utilities.
Any chance they are still in the drive?

Since it's stored in a single file you recover all or nothing. Make sure you
include hidden files/folders in your search. By default the are stored here;
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook
