Archive non published versions of a project

Is it possible to archive non published versions of a project? We would like
to archive our non published versions of a project when a published version
of a project is archived. We archive the published version by moving them to
a special category (my comleted projects). By doing this the owner of the
project can no longer open the project (the project is even not visible in
the selection list when opening a project in Project Professional). However,
this method does not work with non published versions, because these versions
cannot be put into a category
