archive.pst files

I inadvertently deleted my archive.pst files from MS Outlook 2003 and now
when it opens it gives me this window message: Unable to open your default
e-mail folders. Outlook could not start because a data file to send and
recieve mail could not b e found. to add a data file, such as a personl
folder, double click the Mail icon in Windows Control Panel...........how do
I set up a data file (I don't understand the directiions I foundm, now I
can't find them! I need help very bad and quick!

Use the mail applet in the control panel > Data Files Btn
either remove any archive files shown, or if no Personal Folders are shown,
add one

Thanks DL, but the problem is: I don't know how to add a personal file! Can
you tell me how to add a personal file?.........Thanks

OK I found the online info on adding a file but my problem is Outlook will
not open for me to use the File menu etc, I found a way through Control
Panel, Mail icon but I can only add and the windows will not let me type in
the box (like I really know what to type anyway!) ...Thanks DL, I appreciate
the help

Start of with OL closed
Control Panel>Mail Applet>Data Files Btn>Add
You should be presented with a window in which you hilight the Office
OutlookPersonal Folders.
Then OK that, a second window opens, with the File name allready entered.
If it shows Personal Folders(1) - or some other number within the (), it
means you allready have a number of personal folders.

If that is the case it is more likely that you corrupted your Profile in
whatever method you used to 'remove' folders.
In the Mail Applet select the Btn to modify the profile, add a new one, and
add your data files to this profile

Thanks DL, just prior to your suggestions I had reinstalled Outlook, but it
still did not open so I followed your suggestions but I was lost so I just
hit ok (the Personal folder.pst was there this time with (1) so I just kept
hitting the OK's and now I have a working Outlook.....I love u!
