Archived emails don't show up in archived folders- where are they?

In Outlook 2003, I set AutoArchive to archive my folders to a PST file.
AutoArchive ran, and set up all thearchive folders to match my Personal
folder, and disappeared many of my emails. But they did not appear in the
Archive folders. I right-click on the Archive file and tell it to open
Outlook Data File, and select the data file named Archive, and nothing new
happens. Can you help me find my archived emails?
thanks!

If your Archive folder appears in the folder view, within OL, there should
be a plus next to it, clicking this opens the Archive Folders

Thanks, but I have tried that. I can see all the folders, but they are all
empty.
I can't figure out where my emails went. All the ones older than 3 months
have disappeared, but they aren't in the archive folders.

Any ideas would be most welcome.

thanks,
Marianne

RIght-click one of the folders from which items were removed and choose
Properties. Select the AutoArchive tab. If the "Archive items in this
folder using the default settings" button selected? If so, click "Default
Archive Settings". Is the archive PST specified there the one you think it
should be?

If the "Archive this folder using these settings" button is selected, if the
archive PST specified there the one you think it should be?
