archiveing deletes history

I have a user that can no loger get any history on past reoccuring
appointments. It happened while she was on vacation.

If her replacement accidently archived the mailbox, would that delete all
history? Is it recoverable or restoreable?

The archive calendar does appear to be empty which implies no archiving was
done??

This is on an exchange server setup.

What do you mean by "history on past recurring appointments"? Do you mean
text they entered into the Notes pane of single instances of a recurring
appointment? If so, then making a change to the event that modifies the
entire series, like setting an end date when there was none before will have
that effect. Recurring events are single entries in the calendar and Outlook
generates the individual instances by calculating them based on the start date
and the recurrence pattern. They're not separate entries. If you perform an
action that causes Outlook to regenerate the recurrences, you'll lose all
modifications you made to the individual instances.

I am not using the correct term Im sure. In the past the user could do a
search on "Boy Scouts" for example. They meet every week and it is a recuring
event. The search would show all of the past meetings. You could click on one
of the meetings and it would open up a window that showed the meeting notes.
Now it only shows just the one reocuring schedule, not each past event.

They must either have been separate events, not a recurring event, or it was a
recurring event with notes in the instances, but someone changed the event in
such a way as to regenerate the series.
