Archiving Calendar can NOT be stopped!

Despite all attempts to STOP it, EVERY time I Archive Outlook 2007, my
Calendar is also archived with subsequent loss of important appointments from
the Calendar.

Yes, I know I can bring the lost appointments back with some success (albeit
duplicate appointments being created and then having to be deleted one by one
- time consuming and frustrating to say the least) but I'd rather just have
the Calendar left alone and not archived in the first place!

I have set the Calendar archive settings as follows:

Open Calendar View
Show all Calendars under My Calendars
Right-click on Calendar
Select the Autoarchive tab
Select the radio button 'Do not archive items in this folder'
OK

I have set the Outlook 2007 archive settings as follows:

Tools
Options
Other
Autoarchive
Select ALL checkboxes
OK

I then run Outlook 2007 Archive (File/Archive),highlighting Personal Folders
in the fly-out list and ensuring that the checkbox labelled "Include items
with 'Do Not Autoarchive' checked" is NOT checked/selected.

Archive then starts archiving ALL folders and subfolders under Personal
Folders INCLUDING Calendar!

What's up? Why is it doing the exact opposite to what I've set? How do I
STOP the Calendar from being archived?

Go to the calendar and use the By Category or All Appointments view - verify
the appointments do not exist in your main calendar after archiving runs
(and before copying them back from the Archive folder). When you move them
back, select all and use the move to folder command. I can't repro
duplicates at all - but using move to should eliminate and goofiness with
drag and drop.

I can't test archiving my entire mailbox and will need to load a test
mailbox to try that - if you use the manual archive option to select a
specific folder it ignores the folder's do not autoarchive setting (it's a
manual archive, after all, and the setting is for autoarchive). The top
option to archive the entire pst based on folder settings should work. Note
that the option about including items with do not autoarchive applies to the
per item setting, not the folder option.

At this point, my suggestion is a custom form with the Do not Autoarchive
option selected. To set all existing items to Do not AutoArchive, add the
Do not archive field to the view and group by it. Drag everything from the
No group to the Yes group.
