Archiving/Closing Out Projects

Our company wishes to archive a project to close the project out. We are
running: Microsoft Project 2003 Server, Microsoft Project 2003 Web Access,
Microsoft Project 2003 Professional. Does anyone know the best way to
accomplish? I am open for suggestions (ISV(s), Third Party Apps, etc.)

What are you really trying to achieve? Archiving has a specific meaning in
the Project Server context, and it may or may not be an appropriate approach
for closing out a project.

If you can describe your vision for the characteristics or behavior or
accessibility or editability of a closed project, you'll get some good,
concrete advice.

What is the meaning of Archiving in the Project Server context? Perhaps this
is something we may be intrested in as well.

There is no built in archiving processes in Project Server. In my
experience, archiving is usually done by taking the finished project, saving
it off as an mpp file and storing in a some central repository for reference
or loading it onto a mirror server for easy reference and analysis. You
then would go and delete the project file from the production database so
that it no longer appears anywhere in the production environment (Reports,
Timesheets, etc). I don't believe that there is a good way to use the
versioning feature to accomplish archiving.
