Archiving emails

Employees of our company were experiencing error messages getting into
outlook. The error was could not communicate with exchange server. We were
instructed to start manually deleting old emails.

Does the archive function correct this problem if the archive file is a file
created on your c (local drive)?

What drive do the unarchived emails go to? Would it be the same drive as
your server.
Thanks

Deleting files probably won't solve this issue unless the Exchange server is
very low on resources.

To answer your question; archiving to a separate pst-file will indeed remove
the message from the server.
File-> New-> Outlook Data File...
File-> Archive and AutoArchive are also moving emails to a pst-file.

"Unarchived" emails will still be in the Exchange database on the server.
Depending on your version of Outlook and your settings, a local cache file
(ost-file) is also created to de-stress the server but the Exchange database
should be considered the master copy.
