both archiving and synching - using Outlook 2002. Also have laptop that I'd
ideally like to synch when back in the office i.e. messages stored in the
outbox when offline - when back on the netwrok, messages are sent....

possible?

When you work on your laptop you'll be able to send it from basically
anywhere as long as you can reach your SMTP server.

Configure your account settings to leave a copy on the server to be able to
download your messages on another machine as well.

A pst is stored locally so you'll need synching tools to update other
information like calendar, contacts, send items, archive, etc. See the link
Ben provided.
