Users archive their messages from Outlook 2003 to shared network folders, by
copying individual messages to .msg files in the network folder (dragging &
dropping them from outlook to explorer window). This is because they need to
share these archived messages with each other. They cannot store all messages
in their Exchange mailboxes, because of the Exchange 2003 information store
size limit.
Now when the message is copied to network folder, and new .msg -file is
created, the files creation date is set to current time/date. This is of
course normal, but I have been asked to find out if it is possible to do this
in a way that .msg -files "created" -date would be the same as messages
"sent" date? (Because then it would be a lot easier to find messages by date
from a network folder...)
This may not be even possible at all, but if anyone has idea how this could
be done, or any alternate methods for similar archiving task, i would
appreciate any help!
Thanks,
Antti
PS. Using .pst-files is not an option, because users need to access these
"message archive folders" simultaneously and also .pst-files maximum size
limit would not be enough.
