Archiving or Exporting of Project Plans

Does anyone suggest me how to archive about 50 project plans into external
media, e.g. CD-ROM, at once?

Alternatively, is there any approach to export the 50 project plans at once
from Project Server to another repository such as shared drive etc? (This is
because, after exporting them, administrator can easily archive them into
external media using "copy & paste".)

Typically this kind of thing is accomplished with the MSSQL server backup or data transformation services (DTS in Microsoft speak) that are both part of MSSQL. Another thing to remember here is that databases and tables of data don't translate directly to a typical project file formats. Databases and tables provide a very specific structure for the data.

The point being that even when you do 'export' the project data it's not going to be packaged into nice neat individual project files. I know of no mechanism available off the shelf the will allow you to export a large number of projects into single project format files - if that's even what you're trying to accomplish.

In order to get a better answer here are a few of the questions you need to answer for us.

I assume the 50 projects are a subset of your entire database. True?

Where do you hope to use this data once it's on the CD-ROM?

What data format is the target application expecting?

Can you or your system administrators deal with the data in XML format? If this is true you might want to start looking into the PDS service that bundled with project server.

Post back if you get a better set of requirements identified. Good luck.
