archiving problems

Some outlook 2003 clients don't archive either automatically or manually. I
set one today to move Inbox items older than 2 months to
H:\mail\archive.pst. That failed so I manually said archive everything
older than March 1, 20006. Same failure.
I just now manually told it to archive files older that 2/28/06 to a new
file. It created the file and the folder structure, but copied no mail.
The inbox currently has mail dated back to january 06.

Autoarchive doesn't use the received date to determine whether or not an
item is eligible for archiving, it uses the Modified date. Add the Modified
date to the headers and see if that explains what you see.

Thanks for the tip, that was exactly the issue. I'm just curious why large
sections of contiguous msgs got modified at the same time, most of which
didn't happen any time around when the backups run. They're all in the
Inbox and haven't had rules doing anything to them. I did migrate this user
to a new PC, but the modified stamps don't reflect that time, and aren't
entirely consistent anyway. This is Outlook 2003 not running in cached
mode.

Also, I'd like to reset the modified dates vs messing around w/ the
autoarchive date. I suspect that takes a script vs using the Outlook GUI.
Anyone tried that?

thanks!
