Archiving Projects - Why Not Make it Simple

Alice Roman

Hi,
I created a 1 task timeline and published it under the name Completed
Projects Closed that created a workspace of the same name. I then
created a folder in the Project Document Library for each named
project I wanted to archive. Then I saved all the documents and the
latest timeline from each project I wanted to archive, in those
folders and deleted the old project workspaces. Is there anything
wrong with this method I am using? It keeps people from seeing so
many project workspaces on the screen when they enter PWA. We use
project server 2007.
Thanks

Hello Alice,

Whatever works for you and your organization is cool. There are many pro
and cons to your method. However, if you are just interested in not seeing
the close projects in the list of projects, just remove the URL.

Server Settings > Project Workspaces > select the project workspace >> Edit
Site Address and Remove the URL from the SharePoint Site.

If later, you want it back, it's simple enough to add it back.

Cheers! Viva Project Server!

If you do this:
Server Settings > Project Workspaces > select the project workspace
Site Address and Remove the URL from the SharePoint Site.
Does it just remove the project workspace link from the page where it
is displayed currently?

Can I still use this same URL to access this completed project from a
Completed Projects Closed SharePoint site I created if I addiit there
as a linked item?
