archiving/saving email

How can i clear my "in-box" and "sent" folders, but save
the messages? Is there a way to save these items to CD or
some other back-up media?

You can export the data to file, then save to Cd or
whatever:

From Outlook main menu, select File / Import Export,
Export to a file / select the file format and follow
through.
