Are COM-addins possible for Visio 2000?

Adelle Hartley

The "Advanced" tab on the "Options" dialog has a check box labeled
"Enable COM Add-ins", but this option is grayed out. Is that because my
installation is incomplete, or because this was not implemented before
Visio 2002?

Thanks,

Adelle.

To my knowledge visio 2000 was not able to run addin for its own purpose.
Only the addon were available. Beginning with visio 2002 was the possibility
to use COM add-ins.

Visio 2 was the first non-Microsoft product to be fully OLE compliant and
could be programmed from VB, C or VBA (Visio 2 did not come with VBA).

I'm not sure when COM support was added, but if the option was on the menu
(even though it was grayed out), it must have been supported.
(This is something I should find out about and ad to the Visio History
page).

If you look at the What'new in the Visio 2002 help you will see that the
support of office addin is new.

It seems to me that i remember the addin check box in visio 2000 was the
support of non visio addin.

Hope it can help.
