Are emails lost if Outlook 2007 is closed during send/receive?

Are emails lost if Outlook 2007 is accidentally closed or shut down during
the send/receive process? Does it matter if the system freezes or if one
accidentally closes Outlook during the send/receive?

Where can one find information about how send/receive works (e.g. how the
servers interact and such)?

Thanks!

Lost from where, Outlook or the server?

Probably not.

Depends on the account type.

Thanks Brian. See Below.

If Outlook 2007 is accidentally shut down during a send/receive, will the messages be saved in the server and then delivered the next time Outlook is opened? In other words, are the emails in process of being received lost or do they stay on their original server until Outlook acknowledges full receipt and delivery?)

Probably not.

Depends on the account type. (cde - what more information can I provide to help direct me to the information? I have Outlook 2007 and emails coming from either yahoo or from a private server.)

If Outlook terminates unexpectedly during download, the messages should
remain on the server and all should be downloaded again the next time.

I wanted to know if your accounts were POP, Exchange, IMAP. With mention of
Yahoo, I'd say POP. There are plenty of sites on the Internet that can tell
you how POP and SMTP mail work and what heppens between the client and
server.
