Are FP extensions a dead end ?

John

I've recently upgraded to Expression Web but I'm finding some
difficulty in synchronizing my site with the server. I started
wondering if the FP extensions would help with this problem and looked
into having the extensions installed. Unfortunately the host
(Dreamhost) is blatantly hostile towad installing them. I went ahead
and asked to have them installed on a few of my domains for testing
puproses but then I started to wonder if the FP extensions aren't a
dead end anyway. Any thoughts ?

It actually remains to be seen if extensions are a dead issue.
The last version is FPSE 2002, and the non windows versions were provided by RTR software.
However, there is a new set of extensions for IIS 7 and Vista / Longhorn server, and these also were written
by RTR software.
Additionally, SharePoint Designer fully supports and uses extensions and all of the related bots.
Whether MSFT commissions RTR to write non Windows versions remains to be seen, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

As for you're hosting company and their attitude towards extensions, that's an individual choice, but it
indicates to me that they really don't understand how to support them, or fully understand how they work.

jmho.
