are my aged contacts being archived?

I have put in some contacts several times, and I have notes in there, but
some of my aged contacts seem to disappear. I've looked in the Archive
folder, not the .pst file but the one in Outlook and "contacts" isn't listed
in the folder list. I did see Autoarchive process and saw "contacts" go
through the list. I need my contacts to not be deleted or to be archive.
How do I check this? and how do I stop it?

As far as I've seen in Outlook (at least since OL2000), contact type folders
don't have auto-archive properties so the contacts shouldn't be migrating
anywhere normally.

Right click on the folder and choose Properties, AutoArchive tab. Is
archiving disabled for the folder?

I think they did in ancient (OL97) versions but it was removed later. I
can't be entirely sure though since I haven't used OL97 for about 10 years
now.

I used Outlook 97 for about 10 seconds until they released Outlook 98, not
much better but it was an improvement.

Would you please double check that when you are looking at your Outlook, you
are using the Folder List (in the Navigation Pane, left side chunk of
Outlook). Now look at all your Outlook and see if you can find the
Contacts.

If they have indeed been archived, select and drag them back to the Contacts
folder in your primary Outlook folders.
