Are Office 2007 Updates needed for MS Project ?

M

Michael NMA

I'm running Office 2003 on XP and I've just installed a Project 2007 and
updates tell me I need MS Office Compatability Pack Service Pack 1 and 2007
MS Office Suite Service Pack 1. These are very large updates 73MB and 619MB.
Do I really need these when the only Office 2007 product I'm using is Project
?

Thanks,
Michael

Hello Michael,

I believe the Project 2007 SP-1 is available as a single download, without
downloading all of the service pack for the rest of the office suite. See:

I'm not sure what is in the Compatibility Pack -- I assume it contains new
code to enable you to open the newer files types (Excel, Word, etc.) in the
older releases.

I would start with just the SP for Project, and then, if need be download
the compatibility pack.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie
