In OneNote 2007 there are two different ways that multiple people can work
on the same sections at the same time. First, the section can be in a shared
notebook. In this case, the notebook is stored on a common drive and each
computer updates the content when connected to that drive. When the computer
isn't connected to the drive, the section is stored in OneNote's cache and
editing happens on that copy.
The other way multiple people can share the same section is through a live
sharing session. In this case, the two computers each have their own copies
of the file, but a link is made between the two computers through the
internet or the intranet. The two machines are actually doing live updates
of each section as each person makes changes.
