Are PWA CALs transferrable?

Hi,

I believe one CAL is used each time a PWA user is made active and
allocated to a PWA group.
Does this mean that if a user is made inactive and removed from a
group or deleted from server, license is CAL is "freed" and can be
allocated to another user.
Also, it looks as if, the number of used PWA CALs can be checked (?)
via "About MSO Project Server" option of Admin. page. Surprisingly
enough it appears that this number is actually higher than number of
CALs bought. Is this at all possible?

Thanks again.

Hi Ep,
This is as I understand it.
You need a PS CAL to access the server. If the user no longer accesses the
server, then the CAL can be "transferred" to another user. It matters not
whether the user is still a member of a group or not, rather, whether the
user accesses the server.

Regarding About MS Project Server, it just counts the number of resources
who have the right to log on, and should not be indication of the number CALs
you need.

So, in summary, add up the number of active users of the system you have,
subtrack the number of users who have Professional on their desktop, and that
gives you the number of additional PS CALS you need (Professional comes with
a CAL).

Yes, those CALs are freed up if the user is made inactive or deleted
(not removed from a group). You CAL count is the number of CALS you
purchased plus the number of Project Pro licenses you have.
