Are there any updates for Office97 running on Windows XP?

I was hoping to install updates 1 & 2 for Office 97, the version I am running
on Windows XP (yes I know), but I notice right at the bottom of the page for
each download it says it supports Windows 2000, 95, NT etc. but no mention of
XP. Are there any effective downloads for Office 97 on XP, or should I write
to Santa for a newer version of Office? Please help!

The updates for Office 97 are for Office 97, no matter
which version of Windows. Windows XP was not released
until long after Office 97 and MS didn't do 'official'
detailed testing on Windows XP for that version but
yes, it works on Windows XP :)

I have Office 97 Pro that has run flawlessly on my WIN98. Now I'm using XP
Pro. Off97P has been installed with patches and runs w/out problems.
Almost. I have one Excel file of 5 pages and a few macros. After expanding
the file by one more page with the formulas & formats copied into the new
page, entering data and saving the file I can't open it. Excel hangs and
generates a "not responding" error. Seems to only be that file (so far).

Any updates to the file that were made prior to the addition of the new
page had no problem on reopening. Only after the extra page was added.
The file doesn't open in a WIN98 either.

Any ideas on how I get around this or at least recover the file?
