Microsoft maintains a database of customer feedback so they can set
priorities for fixing things. Problems that only affect 1 or 2 people may
not be fixed if they require lots of programming time.
This particular issue has come up often enough that I think it stands a good
chance of being addressed, but unless users send feedback to Microsoft
directly (they don't usually have time to read the newsgroup postings) then
the subject won't get into the feature request database as a priority.
To whomever reads this, not just Matt, if this is of interest to you please
take a moment to let Microsoft know you would like to see the transparency
problem fixed.
