Area Codes - automatic

Dave

There is NOTHING I hate more about Microsoft products then
when they try to *think* for you and do things that you
really dont want them to do.

Outlook insists on adding the area code to phone numbers in
contacts. I dont want to see the damn area code, in fact
where I live I dont have to dial the area code. How do I
get it to just leave me alone and let me enter the numbers
the way I want them to be entered??? 7 didgits.

PS: this has got to be the worst bulletin board/message
forum I have ever used. What gives with this?

Probably 99.9% like/use the area code information. You don't have to dial
anything you don't want to. If you dial using the auto-dialing feature of
Outlook, you can specify your dialing rules through Windows telephony
settings (tell it not to dial your own area code, etc.). If you are dialing
manually, then you must have some kind of reading disability. Ignore the
area code and just dial the seven digits. Perhaps they should reprint the
phone book so it doesn't piss you off, too??
Or move to a third-world country where they don't have so many phones.
