Arrow appears next to some cells

Hi all,

I have a problem with an Excel sheet someone sent me by
email. I have Office XP SP2.

When I select some cells in this sheet, an arrow pointing
down appears to the right of the cell. This arrow opens a
blank drop down selection box. How can I remove this arrow.

I can paste a blank cell over this cell to remove the
arrow, but I want to know exactly how to add/remove this
arrow in the future.

Hi Jade

It's probably Datavalidation pointing to an
empty list.

Remove it by selecting the cell, choose
Data > Datavalidation
In "Allow" (or similar) choose "All numbers" (or similar)
