arrow keys do not always move curser 1 cell over

I have a spread sheet that has three cells side by side that are to be filled
with dates and hours. between entries I normally use the arrow key.
Periodically instead of the cursor going to the cell to the right, it goes
three cells to the right and one row down. I would like to have the cursor
go to the next cell (in the selected direction) each time I press an arrow
key.
I am using Microsoft Office Excel 2003 (11.5612.5606)

Hi 333MBI,

Unlock all cells in your worksheet. Turn off the scroll
lock. Your arrow keys should work normally. If they still do not, you have a
hardware problem.

Hi,

Another problem could be an event macro - Selection_Change for example.
Check to see if there are any macos and then determine what they do.
