Visio 2002
Is it possible to add arrow points along a line at intermittant locations
.... not just at the end.
Thanks.

Hi Cowtoon,

If you have a definite number of arrows that you want, do this:

1. Draw a line segment
2. Copy it several times, placing them all end-to-end
3. Select all the segments and choose Shape > Operations > Combine
4. Apply arrowhead formatting.

Or, you may need a custom line pattern instead. Look here for more info:

There's also a bunch of links about custom patterns at the end of my post on

I'll give your suggestion a try ... these lines go all over the place -
recreating a flow chart that was created in powerpoint ... and it's awful
.... short little lines everywhere ... if you can imagine !!! It's horrific.
I can't stand it ... had to recreate it. I haven't used Visio for a number
of years and there are additional features and features that are in
different places ... so I'm reintroducing myself to it. I like it so far.

Is there a way to over-ride the snapping. In other MS software, pressing
the alt key while you move stuff will stop the snap, but that doesn't seem
to work with Visio.

Anyway ... thanks for your help ... much appreciated.

Chris - This is a great tip! Thanks (I've done this thing "manually" lots
of times, but it doesn't size at all - your tip is excellent!)
