As soon as Word opens, an error report says Word expereinced a pro

I have Word 2000 and it is operating on Windows XP. I had no problems before
this error report began to pop up as soon as i open word. The report appears
and says Word must close immeadiately. I cannot creat any documents or open
ones i created in the past. I'm constantly running Norton Anti-virus to make
sure i don't have anything harmful on my computer, but it has found nothing
related to this problem. I tried re-installing Word several times, but i have
had no luck. As a student, I need to type many papers and this is not
helping. Please respond and help me out. Thank you very much.
