ASCII

I'm not a terribly computer-y person, so I may be asking questions that everyone else knows the answer to, but I need a bit of help.

I'm creating a spreadsheet in Excel hoping to use it to import data into another software program (retail POS).

The software I'm going to requires that the data be ASCII coded. As far as I understand, that's not the way my Mac is doing it. Am I correct, and if I am, is there a way to save the file as ASCII or change it once I'm done? (via PC or something)

Sure, just try saving the worksheet as tab delimited text. It ought to work
fine.
